Base event: GW150914 · 2015-09-14T09:50:45Z

All signatures on redacted.space use GW150914 as the signing base. This is a site convention, not a property of the notation. The notation is agnostic about which event serves as anchor — any catalogued GW event with a known absolute timestamp is a valid signing base. The bracketed fingerprint always identifies which event is referenced, so signatures from different sources using different base events remain unambiguous. A valid signing base requires at minimum ℳdet and z — without chirp mass, the event lacks a physical identity; without redshift, the sender position cannot be reconstructed. Events below this threshold are catalog entries, not signable fingerprints.

Disambiguation: GW event catalog IDs encode a UTC date (e.g. GW150914 = 2015-09-14). Multiple events may share the same date — as detector sensitivity improves, same-day detections become routine. The bracketed physical parameters [ℳdet | q | χeff | af | Λ̃ ‖ z | DL] uniquely identify the source event regardless of catalog date collisions. The full fingerprint is the primary form; the catalog ID is a human convenience label, not the disambiguator.

Bare signature shorthand: once GW150914 is established as the signing base in a given context, subsequent signatures may use a shortened fingerprint:

HT☉^7.68279881[GW150914]

The full bracketed form should precede any shorthand usage, especially when referencing events that share a catalog date with other detections. The shorthand is valid only in contexts where the base event has already been unambiguously identified.

This record provides corruption detection and version discipline, not tamper resistance. It catches accidental alteration and disambiguates versions. It does not resist a determined forger — a checksum with a physical clock, not a notary.
